5 Signs You Have a Water Leak in Oldsmar, FL

A plumbing leak can be a serious issue since it can waste quite a bit of water and potentially cause significant damage to your home and furnishings. Leaks are often hard to spot at first. Here are five signs that indicate a potential water leak in your Oldsmar, FL home.

1. A Sudden Spike in Your Water Bill

Your water bill typically shouldn’t vary that much from month to month. If you do notice a sudden, unexpected spike in usage, have your plumbing inspected as soon as possible. Leak detection can be quite difficult to pinpoint; even if you find the source, you’ll still need a plumber to repair it.

2. Decreased Water Pressure

A small leak typically won’t affect your water pressure all that much, but a more serious one can. Low water pressure can also occur for various other reasons. However, if the pressure drops and stays low for more than a few days, it could indicate a leak.

3. Staining on Walls or Ceilings

Yellow or brown staining or water spots on your walls or ceilings are obvious signs of a leak. In this case, it could be that there’s a problem with your plumbing, or the leak is on the roof or another exterior part of your home.

4. Warped Flooring or Soft Spots

If you have a dishwasher, toilet, or other plumbing fixture that’s continuously leaking, it will often cause the floor to warp or show other signs of damage. These types of leaks will also cause your floors to feel soft or squishy.

5. Blistered Paint or Peeling Wallpaper

Leaks will likely cause the paint on your ceiling to blister, too. If you have wallpaper, the water can also dissolve the wallpaper glue and cause it to peel off.
